The Fall

Autumn, the often overlooked middle-child of the four seasons
Autumn is about taking inspiration from the beauty of Mother Nature and in saying that true style is about being confident and 'natural' in your surroundings.

The devil is in the detail. Fall is a testament to this adage not with minor details, rather, paying close attention to the intricate tones of natural colours and textures of the garments you don. Autumn is soothing in comparison to the brightness of Summer think of it as not a complete change in colours but beautiful transition much akin to a sunset. Glimpses of what was but still different. Bright Red's, Orange's and Yellows are quite overwhelming but on the contrary Burgundies, Forrest Greens and Browns. The trick to a Fall palette is to emulate the colours and tones in your location.

"During the Fall, for example, complement your surroundings by taking inspiration from the falling leaves. Heathered browns, burnt oranges, rustic burgundys, burnished beiges, deep mustard yellows, etcetera"
Dan Trepanier

Allow Fall to take over and try something new - albeit a burgundy cable-knit jumper or vintage piece from the back of your closet. Fall is also a great time to break out suede shoes/boots, for Byron a Ted Baker desert boot and Richie a Persian high cut boot. Don't forget too much about greens, navy's and deep blues to break the colour pallete up a little and start your transition into Winter. We demonstrated this with white as opposed to using a darker tone.

In terms of outerwear, you can’t go wrong with a parka or for a touch of a class, a textured blazer. Don’t limit yourself to one look, a suit jacket can just as easily be a blazer and vice versa. Choosing blazers with textures, colours and patterns, for example plaid is a great Autumn style.  With parkas high in demand on the fashion scene, it can be hard to stand out from the crowd but Richies Fred Perry parka does well to differentiate. Byron takes another approach with a bomber trench coat which he often pairs with a neutral cardigan.

Byron has a rather dapper, savvy style and pairs a grey speckled blazer with a staple blue shirt. Oxblood loafers are something I know he likes to wear to dress up an outfit however these shoes without socks actually dress down the look and provide a 'chic weekend evening' look as opposed to all business. Richie has a more casual look but enjoys getting the chance to dress up in a formal blazer and suede boots for a special occasion. Not an everyday weekend outfit but the colour scheme stays the same. One of his favourite colour combinations is Maroon and Mustard Yellow which he wore for our shoot. This is a must have duo to be in your wardrobe.
